XterrAZ

Here's the story-

XterrAZ is actually a nickname chosen for the Xterra Owners Club website, my name is Mike. I'm 50 years old, married, two kids, and a dog. My wife's name is Kerry, daughter's is Heather, and son's is Josh. The dog's name is Louie, King Louie sometimes. We live in Anthem, Arizona which is north of Phoenix. Kerry and I both work in the automotive business at dealerships. She's a Service Department manager and I'm a Part's Department manager.

That's a short generalization of who we are. The rest of this page is bits and pieces of our life together.

Josh and Heather vegging out with a new game. Louie guarding his new duck he got at Christmas. Play Station 2 requires quite a bit of attention, especially from Josh. Of course you'll notice that making the bed does not receive as much attention.

Some of our interests include four wheeling, golf, travel, and taking the sandrail out for a romp.  We spend a lot of weekend time with the Arizona Xterra Club doing X'cursions. You can find more information about the club from the link's page. We and two other couples are the founding members of the club. It's come a long way since it's inception near the end of the year 2000. We've made a lot of new friends and enjoy the time we spend with them quite a lot, it's a great group of people.

My golf isn't quite so entertaining as our X'cursions, well it might be for other people watching. I'm terrible at it. My best game of record is 89 at two different courses, the TPC Desert Course being one and the 500 Club being the other. Those scores are on a very good day. The worst day has included losing 13 balls in a round at Ocotillo in Mesa (lots of water balls) and a score I'd like to forget. To sum up the game of golf, I'd just say it's very frustrating but somewhat rewarding when the "golf gods" allow. Kerry hasn't quite come around to the point of it yet, but I'm working on her.

Traveling is probably our favorite pastime. White sands and blue oceans anywhere is a destination we usually look for. We've been off the main soil of the U.S. to Puerto Rico, St. John, St Thomas, Rocky Point, and Mazatlan. Those places are awesome! Snorkeling, site seeing, shopping, and just hanging out with a drink on the beach, oh yeah. Mexico has always been a total party every time we've been so we just keep going back. We liked Mazatlan so much that we bought a Timeshare at the Pueblo Bonito Resort, it's incredible. The first time we visited Mazatlan we got married there. It was a "somewhat" planned thing, took the rings with us and found someone who could handle the arrangements. It worked out quite well as the people at the resort set it all up for us. We had a ceremony on a patio balcony overlooking the beach at sunset, beautiful!

Of course the sandrail has had it's adventure's too. The best of them being Christmas 2002 when I finally made the trip to Glamis and the Imperial Sand Dunes. Absolutely incredible. Now I know why they're called "sandrails". It's just like having a build your own roller coaster ride.  I also met some great people that hang out both at the dunes and at www.glamisdunes.com  If you're interested in the sport of off road in the sand dunes, you should visit the website.  Make sure you ask "who the hell is Slappy?"
